KOTA KINABALU: The branch-level meetings of the Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) will commence on June 1 this year, according to its Secretary-General, Datuk Mohamed Razali Mohamed Razi.
He said that the division-level meetings of the party will be held from August 17th to September 30th, 2024.
Furthermore, he said the Gagasan Rakyat Annual General Assembly (PAT) for 2024 is scheduled for November 9 and 10.
“Gagasan Rakyat now has a total of 74 divisions throughout Sabah, including 1 division in the Federal Territory of Labuan, and all branches are required to hold meetings on the designated dates.
“This decision was made by the Gagasan Rakyat Supreme Council Meeting on March 17, 2024, chaired by the party’s President, Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor,” he said in a statement today.
Mohamed Razali said that the Supreme Council also urged the divisions to initiate programmes to increase party membership, including the women’s, youth, and young women’s movements.
“Considering the increasing support and reception from the people of various ethnicities in this state towards Gagasan Rakyat, it is crucial for the divisions to intensify programmes to recruit new members,” he said.
He added that the Gagasan Rakyat Supreme Council also wants all divisions to strengthen the party machinery in preparation for the State General Election (PRN).
Although the term of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS)-Pakatan Harapan (PH) Plus State Government will only end in September 2025, Mohamed Razali emphasised the importance of early preparation and consolidation of the division’s election machinery.
He said that the Gagasan Rakyat Supreme Council also aims for the leadership at the division and grassroots levels to foster understanding and close relationships with the leaders and members of partner parties within the GRS-PH Plus coalition.
