KOTA KINABALU: The Information Chief of the Gagasan Rakyat Party (Gagasan Rakyat), Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan, has reminded the opposition block in this state to conduct research and readings before making baseless statements regarding the Sabah Maju Jaya Development Plan (SMJ).
This is in response to the statement made by the Sabah UMNO information chief, Datuk Suhaimi Nasir, that the people want to know the status of the Sabah Maju Jaya Development Plan (SMJ) launched in 2021, particularly with regards to basic infrastructure and poverty issues.
According to Nizam, the government has disseminated information regarding the success of SMJ through representatives and ministries.
“In addition, information dissemination is also carried out through government agencies such as the District Office, Development and Community Leaders Unit (UPPM), representatives’ offices, and government-managed media units, including digital media.
“The easiest way to access information about SMJ is through the official website: https://smj.sabah.gov.my/,” he said in a statement today.
Nizam also explained that among the summary of SMJ achievements are the direction of progress and development for 2021–2025, including achievements and successes in resolving basic facilities, especially water and electricity supply.
“As for road-related matters, it certainly involves the process of completing the Pan Borneo project, while projects related to other roads are still in the construction phase.
“Through the Sabah State Legislative Assembly sessions, the government has also addressed issues related to the status of government projects through oral or written responses.
“If the Libaran Member of Parliament also serves as the appointed ADUN, Datuk Suhaimi Nasir would have taken the time to follow the information provided through the mediums I have mentioned, and he would not have made such a statement,” Nizam emphasized.
