KOTA KINABALU: Former Sukau state assemblyman Datuk Zaki Gusmiah died from Covid-19 this afternoon.
He was 66.
Zaki is survived by wife Datuk Asnimar Haji Sukardi and three daughters.
His close friend, former deputy state assembly speaker Datuk Dr Johnson Tee
said Zaki, who was receiving treatment at the KPJ Sabah Specialist Hospital in Kota Kinabalu died at 1.30 pm today.
“I knew Zaki since we were student at St John and SMK Tamparuli respectively in Tuaran.
“For those of us who had the privilege of knowing Datuk Zaki Gusmiah, we shall always remember him as an affable man, a close friend who is always there to give advice and provide wisdom. Very humble, jovial, friendly and approachable person,” Johnson said when contacted today.
Johnson also extended his condolences to the family of Zaki.
“May his soul be blessed and placed among the righteous,” he said.
