Four shops heavily damaged in fire at Asia City

KOTA KINABALU: A fire last night destroyed about 80 percent of four shop units located in the One Stop zone of Asia City.

The blaze broke out around 9 PM, prompting emergency response teams from the Kota Kinabalu Fire and Rescue Station, supported by personnel from Lintas and Penampang stations, after an urgent call was received.

Operation Commander PPgB Mohammad Hannis Moktar said firefighters arrived to find flames engulfing four permanent shop lots, each measuring 40 by 80 feet.

Crews deployed five hoses, sourcing water from nearby fire engines and hydrants to combat the fire.

They managed to bring the situation under control by 11:08 PM, and the operation officially ended at 11:37 PM.

There were no injuries reported.
A total of 36 firefighters, along with multiple support vehicles and equipment, were involved in the response.
