KTC Executes Strategic RM180 Million Expansion; Breaks Ground on Landmark RM150 Million Industrial Park at KKIP

KOTA KINABALU: Kim Teck Cheong Consolidated Berhad (“KTC” or “the Group”) (KTC, 0180, Main Market), a regional leader in market access and integrated services, today marked another significant milestone in its growth history with the groundbreaking ceremony of the KTC Industrial Park at the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP).

This historic event was officiated by Datuk Ewon Benedick, Deputy Chief Minister III and Minister of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport.

The ceremony was led by KTC Chairman, Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Mohd Zuki Bin Ali, alongside Managing Director Datuk Lau Kok Sing and Executive Director Datuk Dexter Lau.

On a newly acquired 15-acre site, KTC unveiled its comprehensive development vision for the RM150 million KTC Industrial Park. This facility is set to become the foundation of an integrated industrial ecosystem encompassing manufacturing, technology, trade, and distribution.

The project is targeted for completion within 18 months, reflecting the Group’s commitment to efficient, sustainable, and forward-looking expansion across Sabah, Sarawak, Brunei, and Indonesia. When this land development proposal was first discussed five years ago, KTC made a firm commitment to the State Government.

This commitment was not merely about expanding business operations, but more importantly, about helping Sabah create job opportunities and actively contributing to improving the people’s standard of living.

KTC did not wait for the full completion of this project to begin its contribution. In tandem with its progress, the Group has continued to nurture local talent and open doors of opportunity for the youth of Sabah.

For the Group, this is far more than a conventional warehouse; it is a strategically developed Industrial Park designed to bolster logistical efficiency and drive long-term operational surges across Sabah, Malaysia, and the ASEAN market.

KTC targets an increase in annual revenue from RM1.3 billion to RM2 billion within the next three years.

To support this leap, its transport fleet will expand by 400 vehicles and trucks.

This move solidifies KTC’s position as one of the most significant logistics fleet owners in East Malaysia, Brunei, and across the island of Borneo.

This growth, however, is about more than just numbers—it is about the people. The expansion of the fleet and operations is expected to create approximately 500 new job opportunities for locals.

This will bring KTC’s total workforce to nearly 2,300 employees, meaning more families supported, enhanced household economic stability, and a brighter future for the next generation of Sabahans.

As KTC approaches its 90th anniversary, it remains proud of its roots. Having started as a small business in Sabah, the Group has now expanded across Malaysia and the Asian region.

Yet, no matter how far it reaches, its heart remains in Sabah; the head office, management, and administrative core will continue to be based here. This is clear evidence that a company born in Sabah can compete on an international stage without forgetting its origins.
