KOTA KINABALU: The Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) government must acknowledge that they have no accomplishments to be proud of, and it is crucial for them to promptly communicate this information to the people throughout their tenure in the state.
Sabah Umno election director Jeffrey Nor Mohamed said that the people’s perception is that the GRS has failed to effectively address fundamental infrastructure issues and govern in areas such as water, electricity, and roads.
He emphasized that the people of Sabah have nothing to be proud of thus far, as there are still numerous unresolved issues and problems with basic infrastructure.
“Additionally, the GRS lacks innovative ideas to find solutions for these problems.
“It is even more disheartening when Projek Telibong 2, which has been announced four times, claims to be ready and functional but still cannot operate fully.
“Several announcements of surplus allocations that cannot be utilized to resolve infrastructure problems have to be returned, indicating the inefficiency of the GRS in governing the state government,” he said in a statement here today.
Jeffrey Nor, who is also the Putatan UMNO chief, pointed out that the recent announcement of 2030 as the year of excellence for electricity governance in Sabah did not provide any information on how to swiftly address the electricity issue.
“They hastily proposed efforts to acquire the Power Generation Ship Project to increase electricity supply in Sabah, which will burden SESB.
“From my perspective, the current focus of the GRS is solely on generating quick income, which does not have a positive impact on Sabah’s economic situation,” explained Jeffrey Nor.
According to him, despite the announcement of significant state revenue, Sabah still faces challenges with water, electricity, roads, and poverty-related issues.
“The Pan Borneo road project is still at a stagnant stage with no progress,” he added.
