TUARAN: The Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) is urged to play their role as transformation agents and government representatives who provide accurate information and enlightenment to the people.
In making the call, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor said that their task is to ensure that the people are not easily influenced by malicious elements that constantly threaten the stability of the state and country.
He said that one of the main tasks is to foster close relationships and unity among the multi-ethnic communities.
“The JKKK also assists the government in disseminating policies and development initiatives, especially the SMJ Directional Initiatives.
“I need active and committed JKKK members to plan and implement programmes or projects in the villages, as well as mobilise and involve the local community,” he said during the handing over of appointment letters ceremony (2023-2025) for JKKK members in the Sulaman and Pantai Dalit constituencies at Dewan Seri Sulaman here today.
Hajiji, who is the Sulaman Assemblyman, emphasised that all JKKK chairpersons and members should carry out strategic planning, demonstrate sincerity and perseverance, and practice the spirit of cooperation as a team.
“Do not only focus on projects when appointed as leaders, but also be willing to go to the ground and cooperate.
“This includes not sidelining those who do not share the same views as the government. JKKK chairpersons and committee members need to be aware of the problems faced by the residents in their respective areas and provide information regarding government assistance to the people,” Hajiji explained.
He added that the state government is committed to strengthening this institution, particularly in terms of leadership and administrative efficiency in the villages.
“I also hope that all JKKK members strive to continuously enhance their knowledge and skills to strengthen their capabilities and competencies as leaders,” he said.
