TAMBUNAN: Without exception, the entire people of Sabah are demanding and insisting on Sabah’s Rights as enshrined in MA63, including the 40 Percent Right.
Tambunan PGRS DUN Coordinator, Dato’ Victor Peter Paut stated that the current understanding of Sabah’s people is that these rights represent the absolute property of this state and should be returned completely without any compromise.
He also urged Sabah’s Members of Parliament to continuously press for this issue to be raised whenever the Dewan Rakyat convenes.
“The people of Sabah today want development and progress equal to other states.
Many of our leaders today share the same view, and the federation should act immediately, not merely offer promises and empty gestures intended solely to delay approval.
The people are increasingly fed up with excuses,” Victor said in a statement here today.
According to him, certain parties have labeled the Sabah Government led by Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) as being “led by the nose” without considering such matters more broadly.
He said the Sabah Government has never submitted to the federation’s finger-pointing or any directive that must be followed.
“The Sabah Government practices tolerance and continues to maintain good relations between the government and the Federal Government.
The practice of negotiating fairly but firmly with our position must continue until there is a complete resolution in a harmonious atmosphere.
“All of us Sabahans strongly desire for Sabah’s Rights to be honored and the 40 Percent issue to be resolved satisfactorily.
We Sabahans yearn for development, progress, and prosperity equal to Peninsular Malaysia and Sarawak,” he added.
As the Tambunan PGRS DUN Coordinator and one of the leaders of this interior district, he is also part of the group demanding that the Federation clarify and resolve this issue.
