KOTA KINABALU: The public is invited to attend the Sabah Agro Expo (SAEX) 2026, which will be held at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) for three days from 21st to 23rd this month.
Sabah’s agriculture sector is set to witness its largest gathering of the year through SAEX 2026, organised by ESM Exhibitor Relations Malaysia.
Founder and Chief Executive Officer of ESM Exhibitor Relations Malaysia, Arpandi Jasmin, said the event will serve as a key platform uniting over 50,000 visitors, including farmers, agri-entrepreneurs, government agencies, investors, researchers and the general public under one roof.
The opening ceremony will be officiated on August 22nd at 11am by Sabah Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry (MAFFI), Datuk Jamawi Jaafar.
“His presence proves the Sabah State Government’s continuous commitment to strengthening local food security and positioning Sabah as a regional hub for modern and sustainable agriculture,” he said in a statement.
SAEX 2026 will feature over 200 exhibition booths showcasing the latest technologies and solutions across the entire agrifood value chain, serving as a hub for innovation and business opportunities.
Among the key sectors highlighted are:
• Smart Farming & Precision Agriculture: Use of IoT 8 sensors, drones, automated irrigation systems and data-driven crop management.
• Machinery & Equipment: Exhibition of tractors, harvesting machinery and modern post-harvest processing equipment.
• Aquaculture & Livestock: Breeding technology, animal nutrition and livestock farm management systems.
• Horticulture & Biotechnology: High-quality seeds, bio-fertilisers, sustainable soil solutions and halal-certified food processing.
He added that beyond the exhibition, SAEX 2026 offers significant opportunities for business matching, distribution partnerships and knowledge exchange between local and international industry players.
To enhance participants’ skills, the programme also offers various hands-on training activities and special talks free of charge. Key highlights include the Goat Farming Course, which offers insights into breed selection and commercialisation, as well as the Bioeconomy Roadshow Program to promote the utilisation of agricultural waste into high-value products.
These skill development and expert sessions will allow visitors to gain knowledge directly from industry leaders through a series of special lectures, including Lim Chin Khee (durian cultivation expert), Calvin Chin (high-yield ginger farming expert) and Jessie Ambukon (pioneer in commercial salted egg production).
The sessions will also cover topics such as financing, export regulations and agro-product branding.
Arpandi emphasised that SAEX 2026 is designed as a strategic ecosystem to unite various stakeholders to shape the future of the state’s agriculture, reflecting a commitment to modernising Sabah’s agro sector.
“Our goal is to ensure technology and knowledge are accessible to everyone, from smallholders to large enterprises, so we can build a more resilient, profitable and sustainable food system,” he said.
