XINGTAI, PRC, CHINA — Following the successful conclusion of the Asian Plumbing Expo & Conference 2026, the Sabah Plumber Association has officially commenced a high-level technical study tour to Hebei Province, People’s Republic of China.
This visit, facilitated by the Sabah Plumber Association, was joined by the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Moyog and Chairman of the Sabah Ports Authority, the Honourable Datuk Donald Peter Mojuntin, after the end of an official trade mission led by the Hon. Deputy
Chief Minister YB Datuk Ewon Benedick in Dalian (Liaoning Province) and Beijing.
The one tour held on May 11, 2026, was organised through a collaboration between the Sabah Plumber Association and the management of Xingtai Road & Bridge Construction.

The primary objective of the mission is to study advanced flood mitigation and long-term drainage systems. The main objective was specifically focused on identifying solutions.
for the densely populated housing areas such as in Moyog and Penampang, where residents
face recurring challenges during heavy downpours.
The group from Sabah engaged in a series of technical inspections hosted by Xingtai RBCG. They visited Linzhu (Hebei) Engineering Industry Technology Research Co., Ltd and inspected the South Ring Motorway to evaluate high-performance pervious pavement and “Sponge City” concepts.
The itinerary also included an inspection of the Qianshan Steel Structure Bridge Components Facility to study modular construction and steel-concrete composite bridge projects.
The discussions focused on four key areas: urban infrastructure (regional water governance), port development, rural projects (including steel bridge alternatives for timber bridges), and industrial park construction.
Dr Wong Wui Meng (Carmen), President of the Sabah Plumber Association, emphasised the mission’s importance: “This study tour is a vital follow-up to our recent international conference. By collaborating with Xingtai RBCG, we are exploring practical, large-scale engineering models—from distributed sewage treatment to regional drainage governance—that can be directly applied to improve the quality of life for the people of Sabah.”
