Wira Warisan challenges James Ratib’s assertion of no more dilapidated schools in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: The Wira Wing of Warisan disputes the claim of the Minister of Education, Science and Technology of Sabah, Datuk James Ratib, asserting that there are no longer any dilapidated schools in Sabah.

Mohd Khairuddin Daud, the Deputy Chief of Wira Warisan, stated that the educational issues in Sabah should not be assessed solely based on the physical condition of school buildings.

He pointed out that the problem of educational dropout rates in remote areas and isolated islands remains serious due to factors such as poverty, the distance to schools, transportation issues, and poor internet access.

“Having beautiful school buildings is not enough when many students in Sabah are still unable to remain in the education system,” he said in a statement, here today.

He stressed that the state government needs to pay more serious attention to the issues of student dropouts, access to education in rural areas, transportation assistance, and internet facilities.

Khairuddin also stressed that education is not just about building infrastructure but ensuring that every child in Sabah has access to fair and quality educational opportunities, regardless of their location or family background.
