KOTA KINABALU: Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Datuk Ewon Benedick has stressed that effective monitoring coordination is essential to ensure the successful implementation of all federal development projects in Sabah.
To address this, he said the establishment of the Federal Development Project Monitoring Coordination Intervention Committee for Sabah as a proactive measure by both the federal and state governments to kickstart all federal projects in the state that are still in the pre-implementation phase.
“At the meeting held in January 2025, there were a total of 207 pre-implementation projects in Sabah, but this number has been reduced to 176 as some projects have moved into the implementation phase.
“This reflects positive progress due to the ongoing coordination and monitoring efforts by the ministry and relevant departments,” he said in a statement here today.
He made these comments after chairing the meeting with Deputy Chief Minister III and Minister of Works Sabah Datuk Ir. Shahelmey Yahya at the Federal Secretary’s Office, Administrative Complex, Mini Putrajaya, the day before.

Regarding KKM, from the 12 projects reviewed in the meeting, one is already in implementation, while the others are in the process of applying for a Notice of Change (NOC), undergoing further review, or have been modified for reapplication in the upcoming Malaysia Plan.
In addition to monitoring project status, the meeting also proposed appropriate interventions to expedite implementation and prevent recurring delays.
