KIMANIS: The Iftar Tour 2025, organised by Kim Teck Cheong Consolidated Berhad (KTC) and the Sabah Community Development Leader Unit (UPPM), continued to its seventh destination this afternoon in Kimanis, despite the recent flooding in the area.
Concerned about the current situation, KTC’s Executive Director, Datuk Dexter Lau, decided to adjust the Iftar Tour program accordingly.
The previously planned breaking of fast event was transformed into a donation distribution and Iftar session with flood victims at the Temporary Evacuation Center at the Membakut Arts Hall.
The breaking of fast meals were distributed in packaged form to the flood victims.
Additionally, 1,000 buns, 500 packs of bread, and 50 cartons of diapers were donated to meet their daily needs.
Approximately 200 flood victims from Kampung Brunei, Kampung Bambangan, and other areas currently residing in the temporary evacuation center received this assistance.
Datuk Dexter expressed his sympathy for all those affected by the flood disaster and reaffirmed KTC’s commitment to supporting the local community through corporate social responsibility programs, especially during this blessed month of Ramadan.
He noted that Ramadan is a time for sharing blessings and fostering compassion.
He hopes that this small contribution can help alleviate the burdens of those impacted.
Datuk Dexter also brought his eldest son, Andrew, to experience this initiative firsthand.
Among those present were the Director of UPPM Sabah, Datuk Awang Kadin Tang, PPM Membakut Surayah Ibrahim, PPM Bongawan Yusof Mumin, local leaders, and representatives from KTC and UPPM.
KTC is a local company headquartered in Kota Kinabalu, with branches in Sabah, Sarawak, Peninsular Malaysia, Brunei, and Indonesia.
The Iftar 2025 initiative will continue to various flood-affected locations in Sabah, following a similar approach, depending on local conditions and community needs.
