UPKO to hold national convention in Sepanggar on Saturday

KOTA KINABALU: The United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) will hold the 2023 UPKO National Convention at the Sepanggar Community Hall on September 9.

UPKO Information Chief Dr. Peter Jr. Naintin said UPKO had sent a special invitation to Pakatan Harapan Sabah component parties to attend the convention.

According to him, this year, the convention is expected to be attended by some 450 participants who come from all corners of the district in Sabah and several districts in Perak.

“Uniquely this time, the UPKO 2023 Townhall session will be held a day earlier for UPKO’s top leaders, consisting of Supreme Council Members, Women’s Movement Exco, Youth Movement Exco, UPKO Young Generation Exco, and UPKO Divisional Information Chiefs,” he said in a statement today.

Peter said the theme for this year’s convention, which was introduced by the UPKO President, was ‘Membina UPKO’.

He said there are three main papers to be presented during PKU2023.

This includes the first presentation of the paper “Memperkasakan Parti UPKO,” by the UPKO Deputy President, Datuk Donald P. Mojuntin.

This was followed by a presentation by the Honorary President, Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Madius Tangau, who will share the topic of the ‘Malaysia Agreement 1963’.

The final presentation paper will be presented by UPKO Advisory Council Chairman Tan Sri Bernard G. Dompok, entitled ‘UPKO Dulu dan Sekarang”.

UPKO President Datuk Ewon Benedick is scheduled to deliver the keynote speech to mark the end of the party’s convention.
