GOMBAK: UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Panglima Bung Moktar Radin is optimistic that Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) in the unity government will be able to dominate Selangor to form a government with a more than two-thirds victory.
He said there are not many issues that the opposition party, Perikatan Nasional (PN), can capitalise on.
“If they talk about progress, Selangor is one of the most advanced states in the country where progress has been made. This started since BN and PN led the government of Selangor.
“Everyone recognises Selangor’s progress, so PN will only play on the issue of race sentiment in the hope of scaring Malaysian Muslim voters, an issue of unfair campaigning, causing division of racial unity, and possibly hindering efforts to develop the nation, ” he said.
Bung said this after accompanying the BN-PH Unity government candidates for Gombak Setia state seat, Datuk Wira Maget Zulkanain Tan Sri Omardin (BN), Sungai Tua candidate Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari (PH), and Hulu Kelang candidate Juwairiya Zulkifli (PH), to the Nomination Centre at the SMK Sungai Pusu Gombak near here on Saturday.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, UMNO Vice President Datuk Johari Ghani and Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) president Datuk Peter Anthony also joined thousands of PH BN supporters to the nomination centre.
According to Bung, who is also the Sabah UMNO Liaison Committee Chairman, this time the people of Selangor need to choose candidates from PH and BN so that the government that is formed after the PRN is a government that is parallel to the central government to continue the agenda of prosperity and political stability, especially in the state of Selangor. .
“We in Sabah have previously had the experience of when the state government is not aligned with the central government on many matters that will bring losses to the people, especially in terms of the distribution of allocations, and this also hinders efforts to bring more development for the sake of the people’s well-being,” said Bung.
Regarding the BN machinery from Sabah that is tasked with helping the BN/PH candidates, which is estimated to be 450 people, Bung, who is also the Sabah BN Chairman, said that some of them have started to settle here, and the distribution of tasks has been given where each two sections will help one candidate, especially the BN candidates.
“Our machinery will move and campaign with an approach that suits the local situation; we will focus on racial unity; the experience of relations between various races in Sabah in a harmonious atmosphere will be shared with the voters here,” he said.
