KOTA KINABALU: I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Sarawak Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri James Jemut Masing this morning. He is big loss.
Having known him ever since we met while working as researchers at the Institute for Development Studies (Sabah) IDS in 1988.
He was indeed a close friend of mine. He was then a visiting researcher in IDS.
Tan Sri James Jemut Masing was an eminent leader, a respected veteran politician, and a friend to many during his three-decade-long career, serving in three ministries and as Deputy Chief Minister of Sarawak.
Throughout his time in service, he has brought about great improvement to the lives of Malaysians.
His passing is truly a great loss to the people of Sarawak and the nation and the Dayak in particular.
I offer my deepest condolences to Tan Sri James Jemut Masing’s family, Parti Rakyat Sarawak, and the people of Sarawak.
