His advice came in the wake of Sebatik assemblyman Hassan A Gani Pg Amir’s decision yesterday to abandon the party and declared himself as an independent assemblyman who supports the Sabah Government under Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).

“Come what may, we shall sail on and remain steadfast! “We are taught to forgive but we will never forget how they had abandoned their cause easily more so when some cannot “Tahan” or “cannot Bear” to represent that cause as an Opposition Representative,” he said in a Facebook post.

Leiking said he himself and some of his elected comrades had served five Years (2013-2018) as an “Opposition Representative” and had been through some challenges politically.

“But we had never wavered to cross over to the Government of the Day despite all the shortcomings, all the demands, all innuendoes, all personal attacks and even fiscal enticement offers.

“We cannot negotiate or compromise what we were elected to be more so as an individual,” he said.

He said that they were government for 22 Months  at the Federal level and 26 Months at the state level and in that timeline: “We lost friends for their own “Political Reasons” who left and whacked us too in their process of leaving but to each his or her own”.

“That I guess is the way of life some profess and some unfortunately had made a norm,” he said.
