Dr Jeffrey Kitingan admits having met Albert Tei

KOTA KINABALU: The Deputy Chief Minister of Sabah, Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan, acknowledged that he met with businessman Albert Tei – who is also an informant in the scandal – at the same time a video involving him was recorded.

“We have met before. That’s how we got to know him – when he was going around meeting businesspeople.

“Based on the date of the meeting, I believe it coincides with the parliamentary pre-session in Kuala Lumpur,” he stated, as reported by Malay Mail on Tuesday.

On Monday, Tei was charged in court with bribing Sabah’s Assistant Minister of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship, Andi Suryady Bandy, and Sindumin Assemblyman Yusof Yacob to obtain assistance with a mining license.

The day before, Jeffrey, the STAR president, denied allegations of receiving RM1.78 million in bribes related to the scandal
