KOTA BELUD: The younger generation needs to be prepared with higher academic qualifications, whether they are from the professional certification level, diploma, or degree, for a bright future.
In making the call, Usukan assemblyman Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak said possessing SPM and STPM qualifications alone was not enough to compete in the job market.
Instead, he said they need to continue to be guided and bear the responsibility of developing the country with skills commensurate with its needs.
Therefore, Salleh, who is also the former Sabah Chief Minister, emphasised the importance of higher education to enable students to equip themselves with knowledge, skills, and future career interests.
He said this in his speech at the 2023 SMK Arshad Outstanding Student Award Ceremony, near here today.
A total of 152 students received the award at the ceremony.
Among the recipients of the outstanding student award are Mohd Hadziq Haikal Bin Safri 4 STEM A, Nurhazwani Bte Sabri Form 5 Accounts, and Reny Asmira Bte Romzi, who excelled in the STPM exam.
Salleh said that success is often based on the Rukun Negara.
“In this regard, we do not forget the encouragement of parents who instill enthusiasm in their children to succeed in the field of education.
“Don’t forget the contribution of educators who act as a complement to a student’s success,” he said.
