KOTA KINABALU: Umno women’s wing are reminded to always be sensitive and focus on the needs of the people, and not just during general elections
In making the call, Sabah UMNO Liaison Committee Chairman Datuk Seri Panglima Bung Moktar Radin said that members and Wanita UMNO leadership must comprehend that the struggle to reach out to the people is not seasonal.
“UMNO women need to redouble their efforts to help strengthen the party in line with the new Sabah UMNO line-up, especially in facing the upcoming state election,” he said.
Bung said this after receiving a courtesy call from Sabah UMNO Women’s wing at the Sabah UMNO Liaison Office near here on Monday.
The delegation was led by Sabah UMNO Women’s leader Senator Datuk Noraini Idris.
Also present were Sabah UMNO Secretary Datuk Jafry Arifin and Sabah UMNO Election Director Jeefrey Nor Mohamed.
At the event, Noraini also introduced the UMNO women leaders from 25 divisions, the majority of whom were new faces.
In the meantime, Bung, who is also a member of the UMNO Supreme Council, suggested that those who lost in the recent Wanita UMNO elections be also given a place in the leadership of Wanita UMNO in the new line-up.
According to him, sharing the experiences of former UMNO women leaders with new leaders can help form strong teams and avoid divisions within the party.
Elections are only a democratic process within the party. Our priority is to put the interests of the party first. That is why all parties must rally after the election, whether they win or lose,” he added.
Meanwhile, Bung urged all UMNO members, ,especially women, to embrace the Unity government with open arms to ensure Malaysia’s political stability.
