KOTA KINABALU: Police have successfully detained a suspect associated with the horrific murder of a woman, whose remains were found dismembered into seven pieces and scattered across various locations in Indah Permai early this morning.
As reported by the News Portal of Info X, the male suspect, who is in his 70s, was taken into custody around Kota Kinabalu at approximately 5 PM during an operation carried out by the Criminal Investigation Division (BSJ) of the Kota Kinabalu District Police Headquarters (IPD), in conjunction with the Crime Prevention Patrol (RCJ) of the Luyang Police Station, the JSJ Sabah Police Headquarters, and the Technical Assistance D8 JSJ Police Headquarters and Bukit Aman.
The arrest occurred within 24 hours following the discovery of the victim’s dismembered body parts, which were found by a garbage truck worker around 6:30 AM.
Reports indicate that the suspect was identified through evidence found on the victim’s body after the head and torso were located during a follow-up search operation by the police, subsequent to the initial finding of the victim’s hands and feet in a trash bin.
This evidence enabled the police to trace the suspect’s whereabouts, leading to his successful apprehension.
According to information from Info X, the motive behind the murder is believed to be rooted in jealousy, which escalated into a confrontation between the suspect and the victim prior to the violent incident.
The Acting District Police Chief of Kota Kinabalu, Superintendent Syed Lot Syed Ab Rahman, confirmed the arrest when contacted.
The local male suspect, who is in his 70s, has been identified and taken into custody. The motive for the incident is thought to be jealousy. With the main suspect apprehended, the case has been effectively resolved.
“However, the investigation is still ongoing, and the case is being examined under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder,” he stated.
It is known that the suspect is currently in the hospital for further examination before the remand process begins.
Earlier today, the body of a woman was found dismembered, with several parts discovered in a landfill in Taman Indah Permai.
The initial find included human feet and hands near the parking lot next to the supermarket at about 6:30 AM.
Following this, the police carried out additional searches with the assistance of garbage truck workers.
The search and investigation resulted in the discovery of the victim’s head and body around 11:40 AM at another dumping site near Pasaraya Bataras Indah Permai.
Meanwhile, the police have arrested the biological son of the main suspect.
The man, who is in his 20s, was apprehended at a house in Sepanggar around 11 PM last night.
