KOTA KINABALU: On Saturday, Thai F-16 fighter jets targeted a casino building that was allegedly being utilized by the Cambodian military near Thmor Da in Pursat province, right across from Trat in Thailand.
This airstrike was part of an operation named “Trat Triumphs Over Adversaries,” which has been running for 12 days along the disputed border in the eastern coastal province.
Earlier that day, two jets took off from Trat and dropped six bombs on the specified target during a mission that lasted around 20 minutes.
The Royal Thai Air Force announced that the operation successfully took out a Cambodian stronghold in Thmor Da, located in Veal Veng district.
This mission was initiated after the Trat Marine Task Force gathered intelligence indicating Cambodian military personnel and heavy weaponry movements in areas close to the border.
According to military officials, this intelligence confirmed that Cambodia’s army is using casino facilities to gather forces, which made air support essential to mitigate the threat to Thailand.
