KOTA KINABALU: Kim Teck Cheong Consolidated Berhad has made a decisive move to prioritise food safety in light of a recent gas supply interruption from Sabah Energy Corporation in Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park.
This disruption, which occurred last night, resulted in irregular pressure in the gas supply that jammed and damaged their prime machineries, leading to the disposal of bread products worth approximately RM300,000.00.
While KTC has been informed that the affected food items may still be safe for consumption, KTC’s foremost commitment is to the health and safety of the rakyat and their valued consumers.
“The instruction comes from our Ed, Datuk Dexter Lau, to undertake immediate action to ensure that no potential unsafe products reach our consumers, ” says Puan Normala Othman, General Manager of Gardenia Bakeries (East Malaysia).
“Consumer safety is our top priority, ” stated Normala.
“We understand the impact this decision has on our business, but it is a necessary step to maintain our commitment to quality and safety. We have decided to dispose of all affected products and raw materials and start afresh to ensure that we maintain the highest standards in our offerings.
“We hereby seek the kind understanding and consideration of our loyal consumers as we navigate this situation. We anticipate resuming operations and supplies as soon as possible within the next two days, and are working diligently to rectify the issues at hand, ” says Normala.
Normala added, “At KTC, we assure you that food safety is our utmost priority.
In whatever we do, consumers’ safety and well-being remain our primary focus. We are dedicated to ensuring our products consistently align with market’s expectations.
At KTC, whenever we venture into whatever business and products, it will carry the same standard across, and as long as consumers or rakyat see it is from KTC, they can be rest assured that it is safe to its highest standard.
