PENAMPANG: A fierce contest is expected this weekend for the two deputy president posts and six vice president posts at the Kadazandusun Cultural Association (KDCA) election for the 2025-2028 term.
Huguan Siou Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan has again been re-elected KDCA president without contest.
Incumbent deputy president (I) Datuk Seri Panglima Clarence Bongkos Malakun is defending his post while Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan and John Anthony are the other contenders.
Deputy president (II) Datuk Dr Maximus Ongkili is not seeking re-election this time around.
Clarence has been a KDCA deputy president for more than 40 years.
Meanwhile, a total of 12 members are vying for the six vice president posts while 43 are contesting the 11 available spots in the central committee.
As KDCA president, Pairin will appoint three more deputy presidents, four vice presidents and 10 central committee members after the election.
Close to 800 KDCA delegates will cast their votes this Sunday at Hongkod Koisaan.
