Sabah BN—the best choice to drive progress similar to Sarawak. – Samasuddin

KOTA KINABALU: The advancements experienced by all states in Malaysia today are a result of the governance under the Barisan Nasional (BN) administration, including Sarawak.

Sabah UMNO Deputy Information Chief Samasuddin Yusop said that an increasing number of Sabah residents are expressing their desire to see their state progress like Sarawak.

He said that the development in Sarawak is often used as a benchmark, with the perception that its success stems solely from the local party, Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

However, he emphasised that this understanding is somewhat misleading and should be clarified so that the people of Sabah grasp the true factors behind Sarawak’s developmental success.

“In reality, Sarawak’s progress is not solely the result of local party efforts; it is a continuation of stable leadership and effective planning that has been in place since their time in BN.

“Sarawak has benefitted from the robust development policies of BN for many years, and consistent state leadership has ensured that these policies can be sustained without interruption,” he explained.

He made these remarks in a media statement on Sunday, where he also serves as the Chairman of the Information and New Media Council for UMNO Sabah.

He pointed out that in Sabah, political instability and frequent government changes since 2018 have led to a slowdown in development and delays in major projects.

He highlighted that the failure to manage infrastructure development, such as the Pan Borneo Highway project, clean water supply, and rural development, clearly illustrates how unstable leadership negatively impacts the people of Sabah.

“GPS continues to uphold the leadership principles established during the BN administration, allowing infrastructure and economic development to proceed smoothly without disruption.

“In contrast, the changes in government in Sabah since 2018 have adversely affected many projects, leading to a decline in interest from both foreign and local investors,” he added.
