KOTA KINABALU: The Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) has indicated its intention to maintain collaboration with the Pakatan Harapan (PH) Sabah as they prepare for the upcoming 17th State Election.
Its chairman, Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, said that he has communicated this plan to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“We will assess the situation; if their ideas are sound and reasonable, we will consider them because our goal is to promote the greater good. As Chief Minister, my priority is unity.
“This is why I established GRS, which includes eight party components. Even though some are smaller parties that did not succeed in the last election, my intentions are sincere, aiming for us to unite as one.
“We have learnt from our past experiences. My mission now is to foster good relationships, bringing together the presidents of the existing parties. Managing this is challenging and exhausting, but I am confident they have shown commitment to GRS,” he stated.
He made these remarks during a luncheon with the President of the Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) in the Christmas Eve celebration on Saturday.
Hajiji, who is also the Gagasan Rakyat president, mentioned that he has assured Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi of GRS’s strong position to win in the upcoming election.
He urged all party members to strengthen their unity and focus on preparations for the forthcoming election.
“October marks the end of this government’s term. This means we can dissolve the State Assembly (DUN) either before or at that time,” he clarified.
