Gagasan Rakyat AGM serves as a crucial platform for discussing the party’s strategic direction ahead of the state election, says Emmie

KOTA KINABALU: The 2024 Annual General Conference of the Women’s Youth Movement of the Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) is set to be the primary forum for deliberating the party’s future trajectory.

Emmie Martin Idang, the movement’s leader, emphasised the importance of members remaining aware of the facts to ensure the party’s success in the forthcoming State Election (PRN).

He noted that this gathering may be the final opportunity to prepare before entering the PRN phase next year.

“It is essential to utilise this platform collectively to explore strategies, establish direction, and reinforce our commitment to advancing the party’s mission,” he stated.

“This is a chance to strategise on how to secure victory for the party and ensure that Gagasan Rakyat regains its position of power following the upcoming state elections,” he added.

Emmie made these remarks during his keynote address at the Gagasan Rakyat 2024 Women’s Youth Movement event today.

He pointed out that while Gagasan Rakyat may not have a long history, it is nonetheless dedicated to transforming the political landscape in the state.

“Observing the current political trends in Sabah, I am confident that we can all sense a resurgence of ‘local party’ politics,” he remarked.

“I believe that in our interactions with the people of Sabah, the sentiment of ‘Local Voice and Tone’ is notably strong and resonates across various demographics,” Emmie elaborated.

He explained that Gagasan Rakyat emerged from this dynamic shift, positioning itself as a relatively new and youthful party that is agile and committed.

“We must demonstrate to the public that being new and youthful does not equate to weakness or immaturity.”

“We also need to show that despite being a new entity, our party is guided by leaders who embody wisdom, maturity, composure, and a sincere dedication to serving the people of Sabah,” Emmie concluded.
