KOTA KINABALU: The Federal Government is urged to consider the infrastructure and basic educational facilities in Sabah for the upcoming Budget 2025, which will be presented on October 18.
Datuk Mohammad Arif Tun Sakaran, the National Focal Person for the Ministry of Education in Sabah, said that Sabah requires special attention regarding its educational infrastructure and basic facilities.
“As we know, Sabah needs focused efforts to improve its educational infrastructure and basic facilities, including providing furniture like chairs and tables for students across the state.
“Therefore, I suggest that the Federal Government take these needs more seriously in the Budget 2025.
“My proposals include upgrading dilapidated schools, improving roads connecting schools to paved facilities, and ensuring that basic student furniture is adequately provided,” he said.
He made these remarks to the media after receiving honorary awards during the official 71st birthday celebration of the Governor of Sabah, Tun Juhar Mahiruddin, at the State Palace in Kota Kinabalu on Saturday.
Mohammad Arif was awarded the Panglima Gemilang Darjah Kinabalu (PGDK), which grants him the title of Datuk from Tun Juhar.
He also proposed that Parent-Teacher Associations (PIBG) in Sabah be given special grants to help them play a vital role in enhancing the quality of education in the state.
He mentioned that he will continue to work closely with the Sabah State Education Department to develop steps and strategies to ensure all schools, especially in rural areas, benefit from the provided facilities.
