BN’s victory momentum in Nenggiri and Mahkota boosts Sabah’s BN for the upcoming 17th state election — Bung Moktar

KLUANG: The winning momentum of Barisan Nasional (BN) in the Nenggiri and Mahkota state assembly elections will be carried forward as they prepare for the 17th state election in Sabah.

Sabah UMNO chief Datuk Seri Panglima Bung Moktar Radin said that the victories in these two by-elections reflect a positive image for Umno/BN, showing their recovery and resilience in line with the transformations within Umno, including the introduction of younger candidates.

“The success of BN in the Nenggiri by-election, followed by the anticipated win in Mahkota, can indeed boost the morale of the Unity Government, demonstrating the effectiveness of their coalition and their ability to win in challenging areas.

“At the same time, for us in UMNO/BN Sabah, these victories provide a paradigm shift, giving us more confidence and enthusiasm as we approach the 17th state election in Sabah,” he said after attending a community event in Taman Matahari PDM Kampung Tengah on Wednesday night.

Also present were BN candidate Syed Hussien Syed Abdullah, Sabah UMNO Secretary Datuk Jafray Arifin, and Sabah UMNO Treasurer Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak.

Bung, who is also the Chairman of Sabah BN noted that the significant win in Nenggiri on August 17 and the expected success in Mahkota provide a positive momentum for BN’s machinery nationwide.

“However, he mentioned that unlike Nenggiri, Umno Sabah cannot apply the same strategy in the upcoming 17th state election due to various major issues in Sabah, particularly concerning basic infrastructure like roads, clean water supply, electricity, and poverty.

“While Nenggiri and Mahkota are different, the success momentum of UMNO/BN in these areas can be leveraged in Sabah by Sabah Umno,” he added.
