PIBG plays a crucial role in monitoring student progress and dropout rates

KOTA BELUD: The Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) is playing an increasingly crucial role in monitoring academic achievement and reducing student dropout rates in schools nationwide.

Usukan Assemblyman Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak emphasises that, due to the escalating challenges in education, the participation of PIBG is essential for guaranteeing that all students receive optimal educational opportunities.

He said that PIBG is now more proactive in identifying students at risk of dropping out by closely collaborating with schools to monitor attendance.

“With strong ties to the local community, PIBG can communicate more effectively with families in need or those whose children show signs of disengagement,” he said.

Salleh, who is also the Sabah former Chief Minister, made these remarks during the PIBG Carnival and Appreciation Ceremony for 2024 in the Kota Belud District at SK Pekan today.

Additionally, he mentioned that PIBG plays a significant role in supporting student progress through various initiatives, such as regular communication between parents and teachers, community volunteer programs, and fundraising efforts to provide extra resources for learning.

To create a more inclusive and positive school environment, Salleh said that PIBG collaborates with school staff to promote initiatives that enhance students’ mental and physical well-being while encouraging parents to be more actively involved in their children’s education.

“PIBG also contributes to gathering and analysing data to understand the challenges faced by students and their families.

“This data is crucial for tailoring more effective programs and interventions, ensuring that no student falls through the cracks in the education system,” he added.
