KOTA KINABALU: The commitment of industry players in Sabah, especially Kim Teck Cheong Sdn Bhd, to support the state government’s vision of creating employment opportunities for underprivileged children is warmly acknowledged by the Chief Minister of Sabah, Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
He said the state will continue its efforts to engage with industry players in order to create employment opportunities for the children of underprivileged families and contribute to the overall development of the state.
“In light of this, both Kim Teck Cheong Sdn. Bhd. and BTC Group Berhad have affirmed their dedication to the state government by hiring resilient children from impoverished backgrounds in their respective companies,” he said.
Hajiji said this during the question-and-answer session of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly Meeting in Likas today.
He was responding to a question from Sekong assemblyman Alias Sani who wanted to inquire about the government’s steps to lift Sabah out of its position as the poorest state in Malaysia.
Recently, in the Charity Iftar Tour program, the Chief Executive Officer of Kim Teck Cheong Consolidated Berhad, Datuk Dexter Lau, was quoted as saying that the KTC company is in great need of suitable candidates to fill several job vacancies to enhance the company’s productivity in the future.
Dexter stated that KTC is currently in the process of identifying potential candidates to provide employment opportunities in the upcoming period.
He said that KTC has already pinpointed a number of eligible candidates, with a particular emphasis on individuals hailing from rural regions.
This includes resilient children from impoverished backgrounds, who are being considered for employment at the company, he added.
