KOTA KINABALU: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Dr. Joachim Gunsalam has called on the people to always be prepared for any eventuality when facing extreme weather conditions or natural disasters.

He highlighted the need for readiness due to the current global environmental crisis and rapid changes occurring in the state. 

He stressed that human activities play a significant role in climate change, impacting the global atmosphere. 

Dr. Joachim, who is also the State Minister of Local Government and Housing,
made these statements during the I-Green Festival Programme in Kota Kinabalu, here today.

He also encouraged all state agencies and stakeholders to work together to protect Sabah’s environment. 

As part of the KKTP 2024 I-GREEN initiative, his ministry will organise the I-GREEN Expedition Series in Ranau and Semporna. 

Additionally, Dr. Joachim will introduce the “Meranti Award” in September to recognise local authorities for their sustainable development efforts in managing green spaces and landscapes effectively.
