TAWAU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor deserves to be recognised as the ‘Father of Sabah Unity’ due to his remarkable efforts in fostering unity among the diverse population of this state, irrespective of their race, religion, or culture.
Member of Parliament for Tawau, Datuk Lo Su Fui, commended Hajiji for his unwavering commitment to promoting unity in the state.
He highlighted that Hajiji ensures that all races and religions receive equal allocations, emphasising the significance of unity in driving development in Sabah.
Lo Su Fui further emphasised that Hajiji’s approach is inclusive, as every citizen, regardless of their background, is provided with assistance and contributions without unnecessary scrutiny.
This includes contributions to celebrate their respective festivals, reflecting the Chief Minister’s belief in the importance of embracing diversity.
Furthermore, Hajiji advises all representatives to prioritise assistance based on needs rather than the applicant’s background, be it race, religion, or political ideology.
Lo Su Fui personally witnessed Hajiji’s dedication to serving the people during his tenure as Special Officer to the Chief Minister three years ago.
These remarks were made by Lo Su Fui during the 2024 Chinese New Year Celebration for the Tawau Parliamentary constituency, held at the Tawau Community Hall.
He commended the enthusiastic participation of individuals from various backgrounds, considering it a testament to the people’s appreciation for the values that Sabah upholds.
Lo Su Fui highlighted the unique aspect of Sabah and Sarawak, where celebrations such as Chinese New Year, Hari Raya, and Christmas are joyously celebrated together in a harmonious atmosphere without the need for formal invitations.
“This practice has become deeply ingrained in the culture of Sabah, and their presence at the event was a demonstration of their gratitude towards these cherished values,” he said.
