According to its Mayor, Datuk Seri Dr. Sabin Samitah, DBKK will first review the contract period with the operator of the existing parking coupon system before proceeding with the implementation of the digital system.

Sabin emphasised the importance of introducing and upgrading to a digital system in order to modernise the parking system in Kota Kinabalu, aligning it with other cities across the country.

“While there has been interest from companies regarding the proposal, Sabin assured that thorough refinement will be done to ensure a smooth implementation without any issues,” he said.

During a media briefing after the Kota Kinabalu City Mayor’s Handover Ceremony, Sabin highlighted the relevance of this proposal, as similar systems have already been successfully implemented in various cities nationwide.

In addition to the digital parking system, DBKK will also address the issue of public transport infrastructure in Kota Kinabalu, he said.

Sabin stated that a review will be conducted to identify any constraints that may be hindering the full functionality of the public transport system.

“This review will help in determining the necessary steps to improve the transport sector and provide a well-equipped infrastructure for the public,” he added.

Overall, he said DBKK is committed to enhancing the parking and transport systems in Kota Kinabalu, ensuring convenience and efficiency for the residents and visitors of the city.
