Its Mayor, Dato’ Sri Dr. Sabin Samitah, said that this element of surprise is aimed at captivating both local and international tourists, particularly during the night.

“While the current lighting is already satisfactory, DBKK intends to install additional lights, including laser lights.

“The installation will be carried out in two phases, with some lights being installed this year and the remaining lights next year,” he said.

He made these remarks during a press conference after conducting a walkabout at the Api-Api Night Market here tonight.

Sabin emphasised that the introduction of laser lights will create a unique and stunning ambiance for Kota Kinabalu, which is renowned for its picturesque beachfront location.

In terms of cleanliness, Sabin acknowledged that the overall cleanliness of the city is commendable.

However, he highlighted the need for improvement, particularly in maintaining cleanliness at the rear of shops.

While public toilets were generally clean, Sabin expressed concern about the cleanliness of privately owned buildings and their respective toilets.

DBKK is determined to take action against any toilet operators who fail to maintain cleanliness within the city area.
