More than 300 individuals took part in the Solidarity Run for Palestinian People in Lahad Datu

LAHAD DATU: More than 300 individuals participated in the solidarity run for the Palestinian people here on Monday, despite the hot weather.


The event, organised by Kelab Komuniti Prihatin Lahad Datu in collaboration with Wanita UMNO, the Youth Movement, and Puteri UMNO Movement Lahad Datu, received overwhelming support from the community.

The opening ceremony was graced by Datin Hajah Maizatul Akmam Alawi, the UMNO Women’s Treasurer.

Also present were Datu Royani Rafael, the Women’s Leader of Lahad Division, and Datuk Dato Sri Dr Anil Sandhu, the Leader of Lahad Division UMNO Youth Movement.

During the inauguration, Maizatul emphasised that Malaysians empathise with the struggles faced by the Palestinian people.

She highlighted Malaysia’s unwavering support for Palestine and its condemnation of the violence perpetrated by Israel.

Maizatul further mentioned the various forms of support provided by Malaysia, including the efforts of humanitarian volunteer organisations, business entities, individuals, influencers, and even celebrities.

These initiatives range from fundraising to on-the-ground humanitarian missions, demonstrating the collective commitment to assist the Palestinian community.

In addition to these efforts, Malaysians have also organised peaceful rallies to protest against Israel’s brutality towards Palestine, she said.

The Palestine Solidarity Run serves as a platform to express moral support for the Palestinian people.

Maizatul acknowledged the contributions made by the government and private business organisations, humanitarian groups, mosques, suraus, and individuals in their endeavours to aid Palestine.
