KOTA KINABALU: The daydreamers of Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (PKDM) are on course to meet their “Waterloo” at the next state election.
This was the stark message from veteran Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) leader Datuk Radin Malleh who told PKDM chief Datuk Peter Anthony he was day-dreaming if he thought he could “do what he did” at the last election to garner support.
“Peter has been the Assemblyman for Melalap since 2018, but can he show anything at all that he did for his constituency?.
“He was a JKR Minister (Infrastructure Development Minister) for two years when Warisan was in power but can he show which roads in Melalap had been maintained, let alone upgraded?,” the former PBS deputy president.
He said the people would never be hoodwinked again and were now aware that PKDM was not a party that could be relied on.
“The party has no purpose except individual greed for power. To be a YB (elected representative) is to pursue a personal agenda and not the interests of the Sabah people.
“When the time comes, the people will only choose leaders who have their interests at heart,” said Radin, who is also a former state Rural Development Minister and Melalap Assemblyman
Peter was reported to have said during a Melalap Community “Santai” programme in Tenom last week that he was confident PKDM could capture at least seven seats in northern Sabah in the upcoming state election.
And, his confidence was based on the “growing support” of the people.
“We may be a small party but we have proven our ability to defeat the giant PBS in the Kota Marudu parliamentary constituency at the last general election,” said Peter, a former Warisan vice president.
But, a Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS) divisional leader said the PKDM leader should face reality instead of being over confident.
“Your over-confidence will alienate the fence-sitters or undecided voters and you will suffer defeats,” said PGRS Tandek chief Datuk Dr Janathan Kandok.
And, he also told Peter not to misconstrue PKDM’s poll win in Kota Marudu last year as an indication of growing support for his party.
Dr Janathan said that right now in Sabah, the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) under the stewardship of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor was the way forward.
“The GRS is making inroads and is now the choice of all and sundry. And, the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) roadmap launched two years ago by the Chief Minister will bring the state to greater heights,” he said.
Under the GRS administration, Sabah recorded over RM12 billion in revenues over the last two years and investor confidence had skyrocketed.
PKDM daydreamers just ’greedy’ for power
