KOTA KINABALU: We should strongly condemn the recent statement made by a coalition of Muslim non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in Selangor and Negri Sembilan, calling for the establishment of a Malay Muslim government without other parties that represents other races.
This statement is not only divisive but also goes against the principles of equality, multiculturalism, and democracy enshrined in the Federal Constitution.
The call to exclude a political party based on race and religion is discriminatory and undermines the spirit of unity and harmony that Malaysia aspires to achieve.
It is essential to recognize that the Parliament should represent all Malaysians, regardless of their race or religion, and not be limited to any particular group.
We urge the relevant authorities to thoroughly investigate this statement by the Muslim NGOs for any potential seditious and treasonous elements.
Such remarks that defy the concept of Malaysia as stipulated in the MA63 and Federal Constitution should not be taken lightly.
The Muslim NGO’s should emphasize the importance of prioritizing economic development for the betterment of all citizens.
When politics overshadow the economy, it is the ordinary people who suffer the most.
Any attempt to undermine the principles and values that Malaysia stands for should be condemned and thoroughly investigated.
We believe in a Malaysia that upholds the rights and freedoms of all its citizens, regardless of their race, religion, or political affiliation.
