KOTA KINABALU: The Kota Kinabalu UMNO Division plans to expand its support for the public university Student Early Admission Programme (IPTA) among its members in the state.
Its chief, Musliati Muslimin, said the first phase of assistance was channelled to the children of divisional committee members, women, youths, and girls, as well as branch heads, especially in the Kota Kinabalu division.
She hoped this would be able to ease the burden on parents, thus allowing them to make early preparations before going to study at IPTA and IPTS.
“This is one of the UMNO Kota Kinabalu Division’s goals: to ensure that these students do not drop out and get help to continue their studies at a higher level.
“The program may seem small, but the impact on recipients, especially UMNO members in Kota Kinabalu, is big,” she said when presenting IPTA’s initial assistance to UMNO Members of Kota Kinabalu Division here today.
Musliati said that until now, the number of UMNO members in Kota Kinabalu Division has reached 15,268; thus, they require special attention so that they can be given appropriate assistance.
“Our target is to help them by offering various courses that can benefit them,” she said.
Meanwhile, Musliati said UMNO aims to encourage people to become members of the party.
“Various platforms make it easy to become a member, including being able to register online or come to the Kota Kinabalu Division UMNO Office at Wisma Milenia.
“During the same period, we will organise various programmes to attract people’s interest in joining UMNO members in the future,” she said.
