KOTA KINABALU: Newly admitted Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah (PHRS) is confident that the participation of local parties in Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) can help fulfil the Sabah Maju Jaya objectives.
PHRS president Tan Sri Liew Yun Fah said his party had since early on been friendly to and supportive of the state government on the basis of developing Sabah together.
“The main focus of PHRS is to move in the eastern part of Sabah covering Tawau, Kalabakan, Kunak, Semporna, Lahad Datu and Sandakan.
“In this connection, PHRS’ direction is clearly in line with GRS because PHRS wants to focus on the state’s development, be independent and not tied to political interference from outside,” he said in a statement today.
Liew thanked GRS chairman and Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor as well as the coalition’s leadership for its admission into GRS.
Yesterday, GRS secretary-general Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun was reported to have said that the GRS supreme council had unanimously approved the applications of PHRS and Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) to join the coalition.
The other component parties of GRS are Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS), Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR), Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) and United Sabah National Organisation (USNO).
