SANDAKAN: Today I have good news for majority of Sandakan Residents. I have been in constant contact with the Minister of Works. I was informed by the Minister that the lock gate at Segaliud has finally been repaired.
There shouldn’t be anymore seepage of Sea water into the segaliud water intake location. The level of saltiness or contents of chlorides in the water should be reduced over time. This will also depend on the amount of rainfall in the area leading to the water intake.
I have urged the Minister to put up electric fencing in all fenced-up areas and the installation of CCTV in all the relevant areas to prevent a possible repeat of similar occurrences.
Water is a necessity for every living being. Everyone should be entitled to clean treated water according to WHO standard.
