BEAUFORT: Barisan Nasional (BN) needs to reclaim and win back the Beaufort Parliamentary seat in the upcoming 15th general election, said former Beaufort BN committe member, Lokman Sunggim.
In making the call, he said BN deserved not only to contest but also defend the seat.
He asserted that the Beaufort parliamentary constituency has always been a BN traditional seat and as such, BN needs to reclaim and win back the seat.
In the previous GE, the Beaufort Parliamentary constituemcy was won by Datuk Seri Panglima Azizah Mohd Dun who at that time contested on a BN ticket but later she switched parties to Bersatu.
“I am confident that the people in Beaufort will continue to support BN,” he said in a statement here on Thursday.
Lokman, who is also the Umno head of the Kikansa branch, Kuala Penyu said this when commenting on Serikandi Bersatu Chief Azizah Mohd Dun’s statement on Wednesday, asserting that Bersatu would defend six parliamentary constituencies in Sabah, including Beaufort in GE15.
Five of the seats, namely Kudat, Beluran, Libaran, Sipitang and Beaufort were won by BN candidates in the last general election.
Lokman hoped the Sabah Umno top leadership would field a winnable candidate to recapture the seat.
“We are confident that the Sabah Umno under the leadership of Datuk Seri Panglima Bung Moktar Radin will deliver the goods for BN in Beaufort,” he stressed.
