“I think the best tip for school success is to make sure that parents and teachers are working together as allies.

“That is why PTA (Parent-Teacher Association) meetings like this (today) should be attended by parents. They should use this platform as a channel to express their thoughts, exchange opinions or proposals,” he said.

Salleh said this in his speech when opening the 24th Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) annual general meeting of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Arshad here today.

In this respect, he said the PTA had played a major role in creating a collaboration to bulid a sense of shared responsiblity and put in an effort to improve the quality of teachers’ teaching and pupils’ learning in school.

He said through the PTA cooperation and partnership between school, parents as well as the community or school home community partnership could also be enhanced.

Salleh said PTAs must be proactive in the welfare of students, teachers and the school.

Recognising the problems faced by parents, especially among the B40 group in this country, Salleh said various initiatives, efforts and programs have been introduced by the government, including School Assistance, Poor Students Trust Fund Assistance, Free Tablet Assistance for B40 students under the CERDIK initiative.
