FCAS urges more youth to sign up for its “Sunset Run”

KOTA KINABALU: The Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS) youth wing has urged youngsters residing in Kota Kinabalu and its vicinity to take part in its inaugural “FCAS Youth Dragon Boat Sunset Run”.

Urging this was FCAS youth chief Chang Jeng Yung while speaking at a special introduction cum briefing session on the “FCAS Youth Dragon Boat Sunset Run”, at the Kampung Nelayan Seafood Restaurant at Bukit Padang here, over the weekend, which was attended by close to 100 youth representatives of FCAS member associations. Also in attendance were organising chairman for the sunset run, Yee Tung Hau and his deputy Ben Goh.

The sunset run which is being organised for the first time in conjunction with the 7th FCAS International Dragon Boat Race will be held on 2 July, 2022 with registration of participants starting at 3.30pm; the participants will be flagged off at 4.50pm and the run is scheduled to end at 6.30pm.

Meanwhile, in his briefing, Chang was delighted to note that since it was opened for registration, the Sunset Run has received encouraging response with more than 200 participants having signed up. He thus hoped that with the additional push by the youth wings of the various FCAS member associations after this, more people would come forward to sign up for the Sunset Run. The registration fee is RM50 per participant.

Chang also disclosed that upon signing up, the participant will be receiving an exquisite sport T-shirt, a piece of numbered cloth, refreshment package, and a commemorative medal upon completing the run.

“We would also like to thank all those business corporations which have generously come forward to support this sport event, and we hope that more sponsorship would continue to pour in from various business corporations, in order to make this sport event a successful one,” he said.

On the spot, Chang and Yee also received the sponsorship from Kampung Nelayan Seafood Restaurant, which was handed over by its managing director, Andy Goh.

Chang also disclosed that during their recent courtesy call on Sabah Youth and Sports Minister, Datuk Ellron Angin, the latter has agreed to officiate at the Sunset Run to flag off the participants. Besides this, Jomrun and Ultron have also agreed to be its organising partners.
