Qhazanah Sabah Group Share Ramadan Blessings With Home Tuaran

KOTA KINABALU: Embracing the spirit of compassion during the holy month of Ramadan, the Qhazanah Sabah Group treated 24 residents from Rumah Anak Yatim & Maahad Tahfiz (Home Tuaran), Tuaran to a sumptuous iftar (breaking of fast) meal.
Excitement was written on the faces of the Home Tuaran residents aged between nine and 19 as they arrived at the Majlis Berbuka Puasa Bersama Anak-Anak Yatim dan Pengagihan Zakat Kumpulan Qhazanah Sabah at Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) here today (April 9th) accompanied by their guardians.
Their excitement was further heightened with the opportunity to be in the presence of Minister of Local Government and Housing Minister and Finance Minister II, Yang Berhormat Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun who was the guest of honour of the event.
Also present was Qhazanah Sabah Berhad (QSB) chairman Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Salleh Said Keruak who handed over a RM10,000.00 contribution to Home Tuaran as part of the state government’s investment arm Corporate and Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
Salleh also presented Raya packets to the obviously delighted Tuaran Home residents and hoped that their Hari Raya celebrations would be livelier and extra special this year.
“The holy month of Ramadan is a time when Muslims immerse themselves in spiritual devotion and self-reflection. The act of fasting recalls important values such as sacrifice, living moderately and most importantly carrying out acts of charity and sharing with those in need,” he said.
“During this time Muslims place great importance in helping those who are less fortunate. This too is a virtue we at Qhazanah Sabah hold close to,” Salleh added.
Salleh said that it had been Qhazanah Sabah’s practice to organize iftar and distribute Hari Raya goodies to spread festive spirit among underprivileged children at orphanages around the state since the company’s founding in 1995.
“We wanted to put a smile on these children’s faces and give them the opportunity to experience breaking fast with the Qhazanah Sabah family. We hope the children can now have a more meaningful experience of the fasting month,” Salleh said.
Home Tuaran manager Puan Hajah Junaidah Hassan expressed her gratitude to Qhazanah Sabah for hosting the event, adding that that the children had been eagerly waiting for the iftar outing.
“An outing like this is good for the children as it gives them the opportunity to interact with others outside of the home and more importantly to see and experience the kindness in people. It is my hope that they would emulate this kind act when they grow up,” she said.
Puan Hajah Junaidah said Qhazanah Sabah’s contribution was time for Home Tuaran as it would help to cover its maintenance costs and daily operation expenses.
At the event, the Qhazanah Sabah Group also handed over its business zakat obligation for the financial year ending December 31, 2021, amounting to RM376,013.00 to the Sabah government. Salleh handed over the business zakat to Sabah Islamic Religious Council (MUIS) president Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Yahya Hussin and witnessed by Yang Berhormat Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun.
Also present were Minister of Community Development and People’s Wellbeing of Sabah, Datuk Ir. Shahelmey bin Yahya, QSB Executive Director Tuan Haji Mohd Shukor Abdul Mumin, Group Chief Executive Officer Ahamd Rizal Dahli, top management of QSB and its Group of companies
