KOTA KINABALU: Sabah recorded a drastic drop in the number of new Covid-19 cases today as only 474 cases were registered as compared to 657 cases a day earlier.
Local Government and Housing Minister, Datuk Masidi Manjun remarked that the drop in cases is attributed to the prisons cluster which registered only eight cases from the Tawau prison.
“The main contributors today are close contacts which contributed 227 caes (47.9 percent) followed by 71 cases from symptomatic screening.
“Targeted screening at EMCO (Enhanced Movement Control Order) areas found 55 cases (11.6 percent) where 38 cases are from Beaufort,” he said in his latest post on social media.
He also said that two new clusters have been detected today – the Sawit Lung cluster in Beluran which produced 11 cases and Industri KKIP Selatan Kota Kinabalu cluster which contributed six cases.
The available clusters have contributed 65 new cases and 90.5 percent of the cases today are under the first and second categories, which require no hospitalisation but are placed at the Covid-19 Treatment centres.
Kota Kinabalu is still recorded the highest number of new Covid-19 cases with 128 cases followed by Beaufrot with 76 cases and Penampang with 45 cases.
