Its president, David Chan, said the decision was expected to reopen economic activities in Sabah and restore various problems such as job losses and sources of income.

“With the transition to this second phase, I am confident we will be able to reactivate economic activities such as business and the industrial sector.

“It is hoped that the situation will reopen the field of employment and income of the people which has been affected by the recent Tightened Movement Control Order (PKPD),” he said in a statement today.

David, meanwhile, also supported the state government’s decision to allow eating at eateries, restaurants and hotels in Sabah.

He said the announcement by the Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor was indeed awaited by operators of restaurants, restaurants and related sectors because thousands of people were quite impressed when the restrictions were implemented.

“Today because the rules can only pack food, many restaurants are losing revenue, while hotels are at a loss and in dire straits. “The state government’s decision is very important in the current economic crisis,” he said.

David, however, asked all parties to continue to adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) as the Covid-19 outbreak was still unresolved and in some places there was still a high incidence of infections.

“Every consumer and the public must abide by the SOPs set. We want economic activity to run and at the same time the epidemic can be curbed from spreading further.

“Everyone must maintain self-discipline because we are not yet finished in the war against the Covid-19 virus,” he said.
