He alleged that UMNO has indicated of cooperation with Warisan but stressed that cooperation must be a two-way street / traffic.

“They don’t ask us what we want…they tell us what they want,” he said during an online press conference held over Zoom.

He reminded that cooperation is not a one-way traffic.

Shafie however stated that the local party that Warisan is keen to have working ties with is Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), stating that it was because he understood PBS’ sentiment and the struggle they are fighting for.

Aside from that, he is also keen to work with PBS because it is a local Sabahan party and the party president, Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Johnity Ongkili is also a close friend.

“(If) we can work together, why not?

“But it is up to them. I am thinking of Sabah’s interest. I am just highlighting Sabah’s rights and the rights of the people of Sabah. Why not?” said Shafie.

He stressed that he was not in contact with anyone, including PBS. “Max is an old friend of mine. I just mention. I never discussed. I am only hoping.”

He injected that Warisan is able to work with anyone for the interest of the country and who doesn’t take Sabah and Sarawak for granted.

He said that it is also necessary for Warisan to form allies with ‘brothers’ from Semenanjung because the next election is important for the party.

“We must ensure we build the government in the next election.”
