NEW YORK — Global COVID-19 cases surpassed 100 million on Tuesday, according to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University.The global case count reached 100,032,461, with a total of 2,149,818 deaths worldwide, as of 2:22 p.m. local time (1922 GMT), the CSSE data showed.
QUITO — Ecuador on Tuesday surpassed 10,000 deaths from the novel coronavirus disease after registering 26 deaths in the last 24 hours, for a total of 10,007.In its daily report, the Ministry of Public Health also reported three more cases of “probable deaths” from the virus, bringing the total to 4,661.

NEW YORK — Total COVID-19 hospitalisations reached 8,831 on Monday in New York State, up from 8,730 on Sunday, tweeted Governor Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday.Of the 162,938 COVID-19 tests reported on Monday in the state, 11,064 were positive, or 6.79 per cent of the total, up from 5.47 per cent one day earlier, said Cuomo, adding that the fatalities went down to 162 on Monday, compared with 167 on Sunday.
