COVID-19: Global cases surpass 100 mlm — Johns Hopkins University

NEW YORK — Global COVID-19 cases surpassed 100 million on Tuesday, according to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University.The global case count reached 100,032,461, with a total of 2,149,818 deaths worldwide, as of 2:22 p.m. local time (1922 GMT), the CSSE data showed.

QUITO — Ecuador on Tuesday surpassed 10,000 deaths from the novel coronavirus disease after registering 26 deaths in the last 24 hours, for a total of 10,007.In its daily report, the Ministry of Public Health also reported three more cases of “probable deaths” from the virus, bringing the total to 4,661.

PARIS — The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in France spiked by 22,086 over the past 24 hours and a further 612 patients succumbed to the disease, according to official data released on Tuesday.The cumulative total of infection cases rose to 3,079,943, and fatalities stood at 74,106, the seventh-highest in the world, the data showed.

TUNIS — Tunisian Health Ministry on Tuesday reported 2,026 new COVID-19 cases, raising the total number of infections in the country to 200,662.The death toll from the virus rose by 83 to 6,370, the ministry said in a statement.

ALGIERS — Algeria on Tuesday reported 243 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total infections in the North African country to 106,097.The death toll from the virus in Algeria rose to 2,871 after five new fatalities were recorded, said the Algerian Ministry of Health in a statement.

JERUSALEM — Israel’s Ministry of Health reported 7,889 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, bringing the tally of confirmed cases in the country to 613,286.The death toll from the COVID-19 in Israel reached 4,501 after 23 new fatalities were added, while the number of patients in serious condition decreased from 1,174 to 1,173, out of 1,799 hospitalised patients.–BERNAMA
